Oasis
Oasis’s journey with fire began in the heart of the music community, where rhythm and movement called her toward something ancient and alive. She was first introduced to poi as a young woman, enchanted by the freedom and flicker of flame in motion. But it was at the Ojai Pirate Festival in 2008 that her true passion was sparked. There, beneath the night sky, she witnessed two women tossing fire fans into the air like spells in flight—a vision that lit a fire within her soul.
For Oasis, fire spinning is more than performance—it is ritual. A dance with something greater. A space for transformation. Each motion is a meditation, each flame a reminder that even in the darkest hour, creativity and passion can light the way.
Years later, Oasis found herself in the vast stillness of the desert at Moontribe gatherings. It was under the starlit silence of open sky that her connection with fire deepened. The flame became her brush, the night her canvas. As she spun, her movement echoed with celestial rhythm, sending signals across mountainsides, as though calling to other worlds.
Today, she spins as a bridge between worlds—earth and sky, music and spirit—inviting others to feel, to dream, and to ignite their own spark.

Jem
Jem is a flow artist who has been fire performing since 2022. Jem performs with dancing, eating, and breathing fire. She fell in love with the contact staff and has learned many props since then. She has performed with many local troops in Humboldt County, and in 2025, she partnered with Oasis in Spellbound.
“I love being in a flow state, and nothing else really matters, and I am being one with my prop. It’s complete bliss.”
Jem wants to mesmerize her audience and draw them into her universe through a transmutation- “you chemically combust something and move with it.” Her performances leave her audience in a lucid state, connecting to them through sultry and playful movements and interaction

Kvitravn Strømme (Michael)
Michael is a fresh but passionate voice in the world of fire arts, having begun his spinning journey in 2024. His love of flame runs deep, tracing back to childhood curiosity and reignited by a memory of awe: witnessing his first fire performance at the 2008 Redding Renaissance Fair.
Drawn to staff flow through his background in martial arts, Michael blends muscle memory with a growing spiritual devotion. He follows fire deities like Brigid and Surtr, grounding his practice in reverence as much as motion.
Though new to the art, Michael is relentless in his pursuit. He’s hungry to master every prop he encounters—from dragon staff and contact staff to swords and fire fins. His practice is fueled by community and his desire to stay connected, breaking the tendency to self-isolate.
Michael’s philosophy is simple yet profound: there’s no wrong way to spin, as long as it’s safe.

Zephyr
Zephyr is a flow artist ignited by the winds and flames of Humboldt County. Spinning fire for over three years, Zephyr’s journey began with a ceremonial initiation by local fire dancers on the sands of Moonstone Beach. From those first handmade props—colorful ribbons and winter wands—to the vibrant fire circles of San Diego and Los Angeles, their path has been one of transformation and light.
Drawing deeply from the disciplines of belly dance and martial arts, Zephyr’s movement channels the wild energy of the Sagittarian flame—untamed, precise, and luminous. A non-binary performer and costuming visionary, Zephyr uses fire dance as a canvas to explore gender-fluid presentation and inspire others to live authentically. Their performances evoke a fierce grace, full of life-affirming power and gentle defiance. Pride festivals, music gatherings, and county fairs have all been stages where Zephyr’s message takes form: Never let fear rule your fate. For them, spinning feels like nature itself—cyclical, expansive, and timeless. A beacon in the dark, Zephyr seeks to remind their community of its radiant strength.
“Who is Zephyr? A spirit from another time, an angel in modern terms, here to ignite kindness, courage, and creativity through fire.”

Starlight
Starlight is an expressive dancer from Florida who brings a fusion of hip hop, belly dance, ballet, and acrobatics into her fire performance. She flows with staff, fans, palm torches, and fire bubbles, incorporating full-body movement and powerful inversions. Inspired by her community, she discovered her flow state through fire spinning and continues to grow her artistry with bravery and dedication. Her goal is to cultivate a one-of-a-kind style that pushes the boundaries of creative expression.
She also shares her passion by teaching partner acrobatics and kids’ flow, encouraging others to find confidence and joy through movement.
“Bravery is not the absence of fear. It is the presence of fear and the determination to move on.”

Simon
A Humboldt County local, Simon began his flow journey in 2021 by teaching himself one of the most complex props he could demystify. What started as a personal challenge quickly became a passion. When he drops into flow state, the outside world quiets — replaced by a focused excitement that pulls him fully into the present moment.
Deeply influenced by the creativity of the Humboldt flow community, Simon pushes his craft through dedicated self-practice. His pursuit of mastery has led him to the stage, where he explores flower patterns, hand twists, and contact-style movement.
Simon finds the flow community wholesome, supportive, and inspiring. He’s grateful for the space to express his creativity and to continue evolving through every spin.

Darryl
Darryl has been spinning fire since the age of 19. His journey began at the Love Your Mother Earth Fire Festival in 2009, where the raw energy of collective fire spinning drew him in. He leapt headfirst into the art with contact staff and quickly made his name with Sea of Flames in Missoula, Montana.
From rooftop performances in Whitefish to major music festivals and intimate weddings, Darryl has lit up stages across the Northwest. One of his most unforgettable moments? Spinning flames to Dave Tipper under the stars—surrounded by art, sound, and soul. After stepping away to raise his children, Darryl made a powerful return in 2025 at a Beltane celebration. The flame rekindled something within him—he spins now not only for joy but for healing. Fire, to him, is medicine and memory, a way to process trauma and reconnect with his spirit.
“Sid Phenoix is my creative persona— he represents my extracurricular activities.” For new spinners, Darryl’s message is simple and timeless: Start
